Past due for an update!!!

Life has been so crazy lately I haven't had time to update this blog!  I will try to update you all on some of the recent happenings in our lives and some of the changes that are coming soon!

This is a dip tray that I painted myself at a paint your own pottery place in Longmont, Co.  My friend Jill and I got together for a girl's afternoon and had a lot of fun painting ant talking.  I think it turned out pretty well!  If you're ever looking for a relaxing thing to do with friends, try to find a paint your own pottery store.  I've done it many times and LOVE it!

On April 2, I turned 21!  I had a great birthday with an unexpected surprise at the end of the day!  That morning, I met Mark at the airport where he returned from a field trip that he had been on to New Mexico.  We went home and got packed for the weekend.  We knew we were going to spend Easter Sunday at his grandparent's house in Meeker, CO and so on Friday night we went as far as Glenwood Springs, CO and spent the night.  Glenwood Springs has a great hot springs pool and so our plan was to spend some time there on Saturday morning.  When we finally got to the hotel on Friday night it was around 8:00.  We had purchased a room package online that included a box of chocolates, free dessert at a local restaurant and two tickets to the hot springs pool (it was a really good deal, especially with the hot springs tickets and an excuse to go to a nice restaurant for free dessert to celebrate my birthday!).  It turns out that the hotel staff had overlooked our "package" reservation and they didn't have our room ready like they normally do and they didn't have us in the section of the hotel that the people with that package normally have.  It was no big deal to us, we were willing to be flexible, but the lady at the desk felt so bad she gave us the Honeymoon Suite!!!  It was so perfect.  There was a gas fireplace that we could turn on and relax to, and the bed was so comfortable.  Dinner and dessert were great too!  The Honeymoon Suite was an unexpected surprise that turned out wonderful!  On Saturday morning we spent several hours relaxing in the hot springs.

This last weekend, we were in Grand Junction for one of Mark's best friend's weddings.  The wedding was beautiful and we are so happy for them!  Mark was one of the groomsmen and he also sang "You Raise Me Up" at the ceremony and did a great job!  Here's a couple of pictures from the wedding:

This is the wedding party with the preacher.
Congratulations Jeremy and Susie!!!

We have some exciting new changes happening in our lives soon!  In the next couple of weeks we will be moving from our apartment here in Golden to Houston, Texas for the summer!  Mark has an internship in Houston with Saint Mary's Land and Exploration company.  We'll be in Houston for 10-12 weeks and then back to Golden.  We're excited about the move and are ready for a change!  The studio apartment that we are renting is only 375 square feet!  That will be a big change from our 2 bedroom apartment, but we'll make it work.  I'll take plenty of pictures of our  new place & the area around it and will have them posted soon after we get there on May 25th!
