A Good Week

So far, this week has been great!  On Saturday night we were surprised by Mark's cousin Kelly calling to let us know that she was coming through.  We had a good visit with her at dinner.  It's always nice to get together with family!

Sunday was a great Valentine's Day.  Mark made me breakfast in bed - strawberry crepes, yum!  He surprised me with a necklace and a teddy bear that he made just for  me. : )  Also, the flowers were beautiful... carnations and daises!  We enjoyed just spending the day together and not worrying about anything else.  We had decided a while ago to just have dinner at home instead of going out.  I'm sure that any place we would have tried to go here in the Denver area would have been crowded and booked way in advance anyway!  So, we had a london broil, broccoli, and bread, lit candles, turned on some background music and enjoyed every minute of it!  We got some nice wine glasses for our wedding - we thoroughly enjoyed sipping our sparkling grape juice from them. : )

Yesterday my dad came down to Denver and my mom came with him.  This gave us some good time to visit while dad was at the auction.  We did a little shopping, had some lunch, and just enjoyed each other's company.  It's been a long time since it was just my mom and I able to do anything together!  Thanks for the visit mom (and the biscuit cutters!)!

This coming Saturday we're looking forward to getting together with my aunt, uncle, their family, and my sister, mom and dad to have lunch!  Saturday is Amanda's birthday, and my aunt's birthday is Sunday, so it seemed like a great day to get together.

Also, we have finalized our spring break plans... Rexburg here we come!  It will be great to see my aunt, uncle, grandma, and cousins!  One of my cousins has a baby that I haven't met yet so I'm excited for that as well!

Our Busy Life

This last week and a half or so had been busy to say the least!  I got sick last week... a double whammy!  First I had a bad cold/sore throat... then I yelled some kids names to tell them that it was time to go home... bad idea.  I ended up with laryngitis.  Ugh.  I hate losing my voice!  So I took Thursday off of work to deal with my lack of voice / exhaustion / stuffy nose.  I went to bed on Thursday night thinking that I would no doubt be able to work on Friday morning, but nope.  Friday morning I woke up and got sick to my stomach.  Stomach flu.  Just what I needed!  So I took Friday off of work too while I healed.  Mark and I had been planning to go to Grand Junction on Friday night and I wasn't sure if I would be able to do it, but by Friday night I hadn't gotten sick in quite a while and I was feeling like I could make the drive so we headed to Grand Junction.

The main purpose of our trip was to visit with Mark's parents (who live in GJ) and his brother who was home from college, and for Mark to be able to go to Meeker and collect some samples of rock that he needs for his thesis.  Saturday morning I felt much better... my stomach did still hurt but I think I was actually just hungry because I hadn't had anything but a few crackers the day before!  Thank goodness it was only the 24 hour bug!  Mark headed up to Meeker and I stayed at the house.  Mark's mom, Sue, and I went to the grocery store and had some lunch and then I came back and worked some on my homework.  Mark slid off of the road and got stuck in the snow.  He was able to get a call through to me by standing on a hill, putting me on speaker phone, and holding the phone above his head so he could hear me!  We were able to call his uncle who lived close to come help pull him out.  Sometimes I wonder what we ever did without cell phones.

On Sunday we went to a super bowl party at one of Mark's parent's friend's houses.  Mark was pretty disappointed... he's a die hard Colt's fan.  But, the Saint's had never won before, so I'm happy for them.  The commercials weren't that great.  I think my favorite ones were the Doritos commercials.

Right now we're trying to figure out what we want to do for Spring Break.  I don't get time off of work, but I took a couple days off just so we could go do something.  I think we might try to go up to Idaho to see my grandma and visit my aunt and uncle and some of my cousins.  I hope that the weather holds up... that's always a concern this time of year.

My sister had her senior pictures taken.  It's hard to believe that she's going to graduate high school this year!  She's planning to go to the University of Wyoming and major in Elementary Education.  Here are some of my favorite senior pictures of her:
